Cilia
Cilia are finger-like structures come out of the cell body. They are short appendages made of microtubules that beat in unison. Their function is to move liquid past the surface of the cell. For single cells like sperm, this enables them to swim. If the cell is anchored to something, like tissue, it simply moves water over the surface of the cell.
